Leather furniture is designed for durability. You need to make sure you know what type of leather you own to know how to properly take care of it, but in general vacuuming the dust or giving it a light wipe with a damp (water) cloth tends to be all that is required. Major spills – you may want to seek professional help depending on the style and type of leather that you have.
Flexsteel Leather Furniture: Quality. Comfort. Durability.
Trends in furniture upholstery come and go. Yet, leather has stood the test of time. Quality leather furniture invokes an image of tradition and class. It’s furniture that is handed down from generation-to-generation. At Flexsteel we are all about longevity. That’s why we choose only the best leather for our furniture. What’s best?
Each piece is unique in texture, color, and natural markings.
Leather breathes. It is rich, soft, buttery, and silky.
There are many reasons to choose leather for your furniture upholstery. Leather is hypoallergenic and the best choice if anyone in your family suffers from allergies. It’s easy to keep clean as it naturally repels most liquids. It breathes and adapts to your body temperature so it can be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. And it’s naturally flame resistant too, making it a safer choice for your home.

Surface grain mirrors the softness category. The more intact the original surface grain, the more natural and soft the leather. Alteration of a leather's surface grain creates a specific relationship to the cost of the leather. The cost is reduced in proportion to the level of grain removed.

Authentic. Weathered. Rugged. Leather. No two leathers are the same.
Leather is a natural product. The rough-hewn leather used on our furniture is created by selecting hides that may showcase branding marks, insect bites, healed scars, and other naturally occurring traits. The wide variety of these traits adds to the beauty and authenticity of the leather, and creates a piece of furniture that is truly nature’s work of art.
Underlying Crust Color
This depends on the type of leather furniture you have. If you have a waxed, burnished leather, there are some creams available where you apply lightly and polish it in to hide the scratch. More finished leathers are a little more complicated and we recommend seeking professional help to ensure your leather is taken care of properly.
All skins on animals are different and absorption is different, just like human skin. Aniline leathers do not have much finish on them, so there isn’t much room to hide and disguise the color variations that comes from the piece of leather.
The hide stretches over the animal in different ways and all depends where it is cut from on the hide. If it is cut from the belly, it tends to be a little looser and have a little more open structure. Cutting from the hind quarters tends to have tighter grain. This is a prime example of leather being a natural product and shows its natural beauty throughout the hide.
We recommend ordering leather repair kits through Uniter’s. Their phone number is 1-800-234-8986. You will need your leather number shown on your original receipt when you call.
"I have an 18-year old leather Flexsteel couch that I inherited. It has 3 recliners, and it is 100% leather all around. The leather has been regularly cleaned and conditioned; and is in amazing shape."
